digital djing with Virtual dj pro V 7.0
DJing on a laptop is now becoming quite commonplace. As long as the DJ rocks the party, it doesn’t really matter what’s playing the music. Similar to choosing a favorite mixer or CD deck, the DJ software ( virtual dj pro v 7.0 ) market has just as many options. Each brand of software tries to capture the attention of the club crowd by offering features that no one else does. I’ve tried most of them with great success in the club. The sound, the feel, the quick song searching is amazing. My laptop became my ‘decks.’ But there is one part of my sets that I love and I dearly miss… music videos.
Virtual DJ pro V 7.0 full featured
Virtual DJ pro v 7.0 is a full featured DJ software for the Mac & PC. All of the features that any digital DJ would need are included. You can control the software with a MIDI controller, timecode CDs, or the mouse. You can play audio files and music videos. You can use one or more sound cards at one time. All of these come with the software, no need to pay extra for these features. This puts them ahead of the other products where time code or video is considered a paid upgrade.
Virtual DJ is an amazing piece of DJ software. It is very easy to get up and running mixing audio and video. The sound quality is punchy, the picture quality is clear, the beat matching is flawless, and stability is unstoppable. For my entire experience to be fully complete, I feel I needed to buy a different controller and video mixer than the ones I already owned. But this may a be a testament to how expandable this software really is.
If you are in the market for a new video mix setup, Virtual DJ pro V 7.0 will do the job just as well as the larger hardware solutions. Make sure to plan the audio card, video output and controller in advance, and you will have a killer system ready to rock any party.
Virtual DJ pro v 7.0 full version is full featured
Virtual DJ pro V 7.0 full version was working great with a mouse doing everything. But I wanted to DJ like I was using traditional CD/DVD players and not use the mouse for the basic mixing functions. This is where things got really complicated. With other DJ software, setting up a new MIDI controller was pretty easy. You find the function you want in a list, click auto learn, and use the slider, knob or button and you’re done. Not so fast with Virtual DJ pro v 7.0.
There is a scripting language that is used to set up MIDI controls known as VDJ script. To find out more about this, the company’s website has a wiki to learn all of the commands needed. A simple command like “play” is setup by pressing the button and typing the word “play” in the Action area. That is fine for some of the one button actions and the crossfader, but most anything else needs a longer commands that need the website to explain how the code is written for that. Seems that a general understanding of computer programing is needed to set up a controller with all of the things a DJ would need to mix without using the mouse.
This was a real let down for me with Virtual DJ pro v 7.0. This should be much simpler to set up. While this does open up the software for endless possibilities for how to configure a controller, I can’t see how the average user will be able to set this up on their own. Having a controller with a mapping that is already provided by Virtual DJ pro v 7.0 seems to be the best way to get away from the mouse.
Just using 2 decks is sooo old now. Next week it’ll be retro and the week after vintage. It seems it’s all about running 4 decks now, and like lemmings people are chucking themselves at this weeks new controllers as if it’s quite impossible to mix 2 songs together with just 2 channels. Perish the thought. Unless you wanted to drop cash on an ITCH controller or Traktor Pro, you had little in the way of more than 2 deck control inside your computer – until now. Virtual DJ pro v 7.0 was unleashed at the DJ Expo in Atlantic City yesterday, and technically has the ability to use 99 decks. That gig bag looks a little small now.
Detail is a little thin on the ground right now – Atomix are being understandably tight lipped about what exactly Virtual DJ pro 7.0 is all about, but I’ve managed to get this short list of features from them:
- True multi deck (up to 99 decks).
- New “advanced” sound config panel
- Improved “advanced” timestretch algorithm
- Support “linein” input in sound config, complete with waveform display, effects, bpm sync, on-the-fly record, etc
- Support “microphone” input in sound config, with effects, record, etc
- New soundengine with three timestretch modes: “pure scratch”, “fast” and “advanced”
- New “fullscreen” browser mode
- Improved video engine, with optimized faster H.264 decoding
- Support midi over firewire for controllers (IE Stanton DJ controllers)
